A different view on Haiti

I thought this article was really interesting. I think the author makes some great points, and it was really brave of him to say this right now. Here is a snippet from the article.

Before we decide it’s our responsibility to rebuild all the lost homes in Haiti, let’s remember that it’s ouractual responsibility to make sure our own people have roofs over their heads.

Haiti isn’t our problem alone. China and Germany and other economically powerful countries also have a “good neighbor” responsibility to less fortunate nations like Haiti. In fact, Haiti’s not really our problem at all.

About Me

Writing an ‘About Me’ is always a bit awkward. I never quite know what to say, because I’ve never been that good at selling myself. At least I’m not limited to a character count on this site. Although, maybe that would have made this easier. Well, for starters, I have blogged in the past, but my entries were rarely public, so while this is familiar territory, it’s also quite new and somewhat scary. Luckily, I won’t have to get too personal on this blog, but I will have to contain my netspeak and constant urge to use a ~tilde.

I just realized that I’m halfway through this intro post, and I still haven’t introduced myself! In case the link to here hasn’t made it obvious, my name is Laura. I’m a senior (?) at UH, and my major is Communications. I just got a really awesome internship for the semester at Moroch Entertainment. I’ll be promoting different movies by holding free screenings and events. It’s really exciting! I’m primarily a Fox Searchlight intern, but I will be working with Walt Disney and Sony when needed. I also have a job at JumpBunch. I guess you could call me a coach, because I go to different elementary and preschools each week and do a series of thirty minutes to an hour sports and fitness classes.

Like most people, I have many different interests. I’m obsessed with pop culture. I watch a lot of movies and way too much tv. I’m always on the lookout for new music, so if you have any suggestions, let me know! My computer is my best friend. Actually, more like the internet, because I tend to consider my computer useless if I can’t find a wireless signal.

I don’t know what else there is to say, besides I like anything that is peppermint flavored, animals and long walks on the beach. Yeah, I know that wasn’t funny. Please forgive me.
